Introducing Penni, the European x402 facilitator

Today we open Penni: get paid per request, in euro, straight to your own wallet, from servers in the EU.

AI agents are starting to browse, search and buy on their own. What they can't do well is pay: subscriptions need a person, API keys need a sign-up, and card forms are built for humans with thumbs. The web has had an answer waiting since 1997, the 402 Payment Required status code, and the x402 standard finally gives it a format.

Penni is a facilitator for x402, built in and for Europe. Your server names a price, the agent signs a stablecoin transfer, and Penni checks it and puts it on the blockchain. The money goes straight from the payer to your wallet, usually within two seconds.

Why another facilitator

Most x402 infrastructure today is priced in dollars and run from the US. That works, but it leaves European publishers and API teams with three questions: what about the euro, where does the data live, and who do I talk to when something goes wrong? Penni answers them by design:

  • Euro first. Prices are set in euro and paid in EURC, Circle's MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin. USDC works too.
  • Hosted in the EU. The facilitator and dashboard run on European servers, and this site loads nothing from third parties.
  • Your wallet, not ours. We never hold your money. We only verify and submit transfers that pay you.

What's in the box

A dashboard where you add sites, choose the tokens you accept and set prices per path, like /premium/** at €0.05 and /blog/* free. Site API keys, team roles and daily numbers for settlements, payers and volume. And a facilitator API that speaks standard x402 v2, so existing middleware works unchanged.

How we charge

€0.002 per successful settlement, from prepaid credits you top up with EURC or by card or iDEAL. Gas is included, and verifications and failed attempts are free. We explain the reasoning in why we charge per settlement.

What's next

A WordPress plugin and a Cloudflare Worker, so you can put a price on a page without writing code. After that, Solana. If there's something you need first, tell us at [email protected].
